Raktamokshan is an ancient Ayurvedic therapy involving bloodletting, used to treat conditions caused by the vitiation of blood (Rakta). This therapy helps in detoxifying the body by removing impure blood and balancing the doshas, particularly Pitta. Raktamokshan is highly effective for skin diseases, inflammatory conditions, joint disorders, and various blood-related disorders. It works by purifying the blood, relieving congestion, and reducing toxicity.
Our Experience
Raktamokshan therapy is prescribed after a thorough examination of the patient’s symptoms, dosha imbalance, and overall health. The Ayurvedic practitioner assesses the patient’s skin, blood circulation, and signs of Pitta aggravation to determine the suitability of the treatment.
Preparation (Purvakarma): Before the bloodletting procedure, the patient undergoes preparatory treatments like Abhyanga (oil massage) and Swedana (herbal steam therapy) to soften the tissues and enhance circulation.
Types of Raktamokshan:
Administration: Depending on the patient’s condition and the severity of the blood vitiation, the appropriate method of Raktamokshan is selected. The patient is positioned comfortably, and the bloodletting procedure is performed under the supervision of an experienced Ayurvedic practitioner.
Post-Treatment Care: After the bloodletting procedure, the patient is advised to rest and avoid exposure to heat and direct sunlight. A light, easily digestible diet is recommended, and hydration is emphasized to help replenish the blood and maintain balance.
